Architect/Architectural designer
Evergreen Design-Build is an established design-build contractor that works primarily in Emporia, but also the region. This position is to help design projects that we intend to build in-house. This position would be the sole architect/architectural designer for the company.
Responsibilities
- Researches, programs, plans, designs, and administers building projects for commercial, retail and industrial clients, applying knowledge of architectural design, construction detailing, construction procedures, zoning and building codes and building materials and systems.
- Produces conceptual plans, renderings and documents.
- Plans and programs layout of projects; coordinates and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
- Coordinate details with local code jurisdictions to obtain building permits.
- Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans.
- Produces construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Assists in research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications.
- Assists in estimating and procurement of materials.
- Daily tasks include: independently completing architectural drawings, schematics, detailing, fabrication detailing, reviewing shop drawings, reviewing subcontractor submittals.
Qualifications/Skills
- Ability to provide elegant and efficient design solutions.
- Excellent oral and written communications.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge in structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design.
- Experience with pre-engineered metal buildings a plus.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and time well spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills.
- Technically creative and open-minded with ability to stay on task, organized and self motivating.
- Ability to keep track of multiple projects at various stages of design.
Education/Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- 3+ years of architectural experience.
- Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
- LEED AP optional.
